More Than a Donation: Providing a Voice to the Children of Badung

True social impact isn’t just about giving; it’s about giving the right thing at the right time. On Saturday, March 28, 2026, the COCO Social Fund joined a deeply moving social action event at the Shelter Kebencanaan Baruna in Kuta, led by the Chair of the Badung Regency Social Welfare Coordination Activity (K3S).

The presence of the Chairperson of TP PKK Badung, Ibu Putu Rasniathi Adiarnawa underscored the importance of this mission: ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our community, those requiring specialized social services (PPKS), are not left behind.

The Critical Window: ENT Health for our Children

While the day included the distribution of essential food packages (sembako), the heart of the event focused on something life-changing: specialized ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) health checks for children.

In the world of pediatric health, time is everything. We learned a sobering reality during this session:

  • The “Under 5” Rule: Children under the age of five who suffer from hearing loss have a life-altering opportunity for surgery.
  • High-Impact Support: These surgeries are incredibly costly—often ranging from 250 to 300 million Rupiah.
  • The Gift of Sound: For many families, this cost is impossible to reach alone. Through these annual free surgery programs, children are given the chance to hear, speak, and connect with the world before that window closes. Once a child passes the age of five, the focus often shifts to hearing aids rather than corrective surgery.

Building a Stronger Badung Together

The atmosphere at the Kuta Art Market area was one of hope. Seeing the Ibu Bupati engage directly with families reminded us that community welfare is a shared responsibility. From basic nutrition (sembako) to specialized medical intervention, every layer of support builds a stronger, healthier Bali.

Our Commitment at COCO Social Fund

At the COCO Social Fund, we are honored to witness and support these initiatives. Whether we are discussing waste management in our villages or supporting health screenings in Kuta, our goal remains the same: to ensure a sustainable and thriving future for the people of Bali.

By catching these health issues early, we aren’t just helping a child; we are changing the trajectory of an entire life.
