Beyond the Machine: Building a Sustainable Ecosystem with Get Plastic Indonesia

Our team recently spent the afternoon at the Get Plastic Indonesia headquarters in Abiansemal, engaging in a deep-dive discussion about the future of waste management in Bali. While we were there to discuss the integration of pyrolysis technology into our upcoming Coco Learning Center, the conversation quickly shifted to something far more vital than hardware.

We believe that pyrolysis is not just a technology; it is a complex system that requires a harmonious balance of people, standardized operating procedures (SOPs), physical space, and, most importantly, a long-term commitment.

Management Over Machines

All too often, environmental technology is treated as a “magic bullet” or a symbolic gesture. However, without a clear management framework, even the most advanced machinery can become stagnant. During our visit, we focused on the practical realities of the next 12 months, discussing:

  • HR Readiness: Identifying and preparing the local talent who will operate the system daily.
  • One-Year Mentorship: A structured, year-long partnership with Get Plastic to provide hands-on training and technical guidance.
  • Systemic SOPs: Developing clear, repeatable processes to ensure safety, efficiency, and measurable impact.

The “Good Neighbor” Standard

For COCO Social Fund, the goal isn’t simply to have a machine on-site, it’s to ensure that the machine is a functioning, productive part of the village’s economy. By investing in the human element and the management side of the equation, we ensure that our environmental solutions aren’t just symbols of progress, but active tools for a cleaner future.

Technology provides the potential, but human dedication provides the results. We are honored to work alongside the experts at Get Plastic Indonesia to make sure this “Waste-to-Fuel” initiative has a long and meaningful life in Cepaka.
