What if the bottle you threw away yesterday could light up your room tomorrow? The Recycled Bottle Lantern Workshop is a collaboration between Coco Social Fund (CSF) and Decocoluminiere that brings together creativity, art, and environmental education in one hands-on afternoon.
In this workshop, you'll turn used bottles into your own handmade lantern. Guided by the Decocoluminiere team, you'll learn how to see waste differently — not as something to get rid of, but as a creative material that can be reworked into a product that is both useful and beautiful. Step by step, you'll clean, cut, shape, and decorate your bottle, then bring it to life with light.
Beyond the craft itself, the session opens a conversation about the waste we produce every day and how much of it still holds value. It's a small, practical way to experience the idea of reuse, and you'll walk away with a lantern you made yourself as a reminder that sustainable living can also be creative and fun.
Who should join?
The workshop is open to 25 participants. No art or crafting experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to get creative. It's a great fit for friends, couples, families with older kids, creatives, travelers, and anyone interested in upcycling and sustainable living.
The venue
The workshop takes place at Kimnara Space in Cepaka Village, Kediri, Tabanan — a space surrounded by rice fields, about 50 minutes' drive from Canggu. Free parking is available, and the last stretch of the route is a village road. The session runs into the early evening, so you'll get to see your lantern glow as the sun goes down.
