Walk Your Trash is a healthy walk and subak clean up organized by Coco Social Fund (CSF) in collaboration with Bali Lebih Bersih by Ocean Hero. The goal is simple: get moving, enjoy a fresh Sunday morning in the countryside, and leave the village cleaner than we found it.
We start with a walk along the jogging track of Cepaka Village in Tabanan, which winds through the village's subak — Bali's traditional, UNESCO-recognized rice field irrigation system. Along the way, we'll pick up litter from the rice fields, footpaths, and irrigation channels. Trash in the subak doesn't just look bad: it clogs the water flow that farmers depend on, pollutes the soil, and eventually washes downstream to rivers and the ocean. Every bag we fill helps keep this agricultural landscape healthy.
After the clean up, we head to Cepaka Learning Center (CLC) for Sunday Well Spent — a relaxed session to rest, refresh, and connect with fellow volunteers. It's followed by a pyrolysis tour and an introduction to the circular economy system being developed in Cepaka Village. You'll learn:
- How organic and inorganic waste are sorted and managed in the village
- How plastic waste is processed using pyrolysis technology
- How recovered resources are put back to use to support the needs of the village community
Who should join?
This activity is open to 50 volunteers — local residents, students, expats, and travelers alike. No experience is needed; all you need is a bit of energy for a morning walk and a willingness to get your hands a little dirty. It's a great fit for anyone who cares about the environment, wants to see real waste solutions in action, or simply wants a meaningful way to spend a Sunday morning in Bali. Participation is free of charge.
